Volkswagen’s “Vendo”-style Storage Facility

Volkswagen Storage

Ordering a new Volkswagen Phaeton from a VW dealer in Germany is quite a cool experience with VW’s state-of-the-art storage facility. Volkswagen has taken the concept of vending machines to a spectacular level. New cars are stored in 20-story car towers filled to the brim with Volkswagens. The cars do not come in contact with any human reducing the possibility of being damaged by an attendant. The storage facility is also significantly less expensive to build and takes up less space compared to traditionally-designed facilities in the U.S.
When it’s time to collect your new Phaeton, giant mechanical arms retrieve the car from the storage tower.

“In a fully automated procedure, your new car is brought down to you from one of the 20-story Car Towers. Large signboards in the Customer Center show you when your turn has come. Then, you’re handed the keys, your picture is taken, the glass doors open and your brand-new car appears. You’re all set to go”.

Cool.
