It is the newest SUV from Chevrolet; it is the first all-new product to be produced by Chevrolet for the European market; and it won’t be available in the U.S. These are the facts that Chevrolet revealed as their newest SUV, the Chevrolet Captiva, made its World Debut at the Geneva Motor Show. It’s too bad that we won’t be able to see this amazing new product on our roads anytime soon. But too lucky are the Europeans as the new SUV features a lot of “firsts” for the European market.
When the Chevrolet Captiva occupies European showrooms this coming September, it will come standard with three engine choices. One engine option is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine and another is a 3.2-liter V6 engine. Alongside these two petrol engines is a new 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine that outputs 150 hp and registers a combined fuel consumption of 7.6 L per 100 km. The diesel engine makes use of the common rail injection technology. It is also the first diesel engine manufactured by Chevrolet for its European market.
Another first for the European Chevrolet vehicle range that will be featured in the Chevrolet Captiva is the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), which is an enhancement to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction control system (TCS). This enhancement also takes additional functions for itself like Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), Fading Brake Support (FBS), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Active-Rollover Protection (ARP), and Trailer Stabilization Assist (TSA).
A gorgeous exterior and a spacious interior complete the list of “firsts” for the Chevrolet Captiva. On the outside, it features a bold and striking design which, according to Chevrolet, gives us a glimpse of the design of future European Chevrolet vehicles. On the inside, one will find a practical cabin that sits five or seven with a flexible seat arrangement that can be folded flat through. Other exciting features abound the interior of the new Chevrolet Captiva, including a neat instrument cluster, a feature-rich center console, standard safety airbags and more.
As with all other Chevrolet vehicles, the new Chevrolet Captiva would again be a non-expensive vehicle rich with standard features and a couple of extras. Too bad, the vehicle will only be sold in Europe.
