Because of rising tensions over Iran’s nuclear ambitions as well as worries on the rebel attacks affecting Nigeria’s oil production, US oil prices breached the $71 mark, a record high. This is a 95-cent increase from Monday’s record close. Analysts also predict that oil prices will likely climb further as risks in Iran and Nigeria continue to pose threats. As of now, average gasoline prices in the US are at $2.79 per gallon and Americans spend over $212 million more per day than a year ago.
