The sway bar is a crucial part of the suspension system. Others call this component as anti-sway bars or anti-roll bars. This is because of its purpose which is to keep the vehicle's body from 'rolling' in a sharp turn. Imagine your car in sharp turn. Being in the driver seat, you know that your body gets pulled toward the outside of the turn. This is also true with some parts of the vehicle. Hence, the vehicle parts outside the turn gets pushed down toward the road and those inside the turn rise up. This goes to show that the body of the car rolls 10 or 20 03 30 degrees toward the outside of the turn.

The tires on the inside of the turn rise off the road and the car flips over. But rolling is bad. It tends to add more weight on the outside tires and less weight on the inside tires, therefore reducing traction. It also does no good with the steering. What is actually right is that your vehicle's body remains flat through a turn so that weight stays distributed evenly on the tires. Now by moving force from one side of the body to another, the sway bar will keep the car's body flat.

As you go into a turn now, what happens is that the front suspension member of the outside of the turn gets pushed upward. Like wise, the arm of the sway bar gets pushed upward and this applies torsion to the rod. The arm at the other end of the rod will be then moved by the torsion causing the suspension on the other side of the car to compress as well. You will have a lot of trouble if your vehicle is not equipped with a stabilizer bar. Therefore, it is important that you have a superior sway bar like the one made from Addco.
