Volkswagen Passat Finding a midsize sedan that has all the qualities of a sophisticated European car with classy designs and powerful performance wrapped in an affordable package is not so hard. The Volkswagen Passat provides all those characteristics and more. Even though the Passat was already being sold and manufactured in Europe since 1973, the marque appeared only in 1981 when previously it was known as the Volkswagen Dasher. The current form was originally introduced in 1997 and had revisions in 2001. Since the introduction of the Passat in 1997, sales of this vehicle grew by six hundred percent. From then on, the Volkswagen Passat became a top favorite in the midsize market segment.

For 2005, the Volkswagen Passat once again outdid itself by providing a higher level of performance with its reliable engine plus more options for more luxury and class. The Volkswagen Passat is being offered in three trims. The base level GL, midlevel GLS and upper echelon GLX. The base already comes fully loaded with fantastic standard features, as the trim gets higher more deluxe features are added making it more luxurious and sophisticated. For the first ywo trims, they are both powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four, called 1.8T that delivers 170 horsepower. There is an optional engine though, it is a 134-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged direct injection diesel four-cylinder. The GLX gets a bigger engine with more power with a 190-hp 2.8-liter V6 engine. All the engines can be coupled with either a five sped manual or five speed automatic transmissions.

With Volkswagens dedication to excellence, the Volkswagen Passat has improved a lot and just keeps on getting better. With the great anticipation of the upcoming new model of he Volkswagen Passat, many are already lining up to get their hands on the steering wheel to give it a go, you can be sure that the hype will truly be justified.
