A car designed by accident, that is the Renault R5 which later on became one of the landmarks of success for the French automaker. So why is it considered an accident? Well, the car actually started from a picture of a Renault R4 accidentally found by Michel Boue. The picture stimulated his imagination which moved his hands to make a few sketches of a car. After a few lines, he had a new car drawn right before his very eyes. He then showed in full excitement the picture to his buddies Pros-dam and Georges who in turn put in the needed framework for the car. And know what? It only took two full days to finish the car. Upon introduction, auto users, buyers and enthusiasts were fully impressed. From that moment on, the Renault R5 was branded as one of the finely crafted models from Renault. Sad thing, Boue died of cancer so he did not see, and evem caught a glimpse of his masterpiece. The Renault R5 is particularly meant for the younger generation. The car was an instant success which appealed not only to the target users but to women users as well. The auto is a two door hatchback equipped with a front wheel drive system which remained unchanged for several years. On the contrary, changes were done for the later models to cope with the changes in demands of auto buyers and users.
