One kind of body style that is used in car manufacturing is the minivan. This is also referred to as minibus, multi utility vehicle or people carrier. This style resembles that of the van only that this type is smaller. It has rear side doors, rear side windows and interior furnishings that will put up passengers comfortably. This kind of vehicle can accommodate up to seven persons through its 3 rows of seats. There are many brands and models that produce minivans and one of them is the Pontiac with it Pontiac Trans Sport.

The first generation of this car was introduced to the market from 1990 until 1996; the second generation was in 1997 and 1998. Production of this still continues until now only that it has a different name already. In 1999 the Trans Sport name was dropped and replaced with the Montana tag.

The Pontiac Trans Sport is a car that has a body style of a minivan that featured a revolutionary sort of design. Its distinction from other kinds of vans can be noted by simply looking at its appearance or exterior. There was no design like it that time and it really caught the attention of the people. The long-snout styling was uniquely Pontiac Trans Sport's. At first this minivan had plastic body panels which were modified in the later models.

General Motors produced this car under the Pontiac name in order to compete with cars of almost the same type — the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager. The production of this car was precipitated by the improvements in technology as can be observed from its sleeker and lower designs. The very first cars were only built-in with 3.1 L V6 engine which was only able to produce 120 hp of torque. In 1992 the engine gained some improvement because it was now able to come up with 170 hp through its 3.8L V6 engine.

The improvements done to the Pontiac Trans Sport include a longer wheelbase, safety features like dual airbags and anti-lock brakes. Improved driver seats, passenger seats are included. Child seats are provided as option. In 1996, the engine once again had enhancements making it quite capable of producing 180 hp through the 4-speed transmission.
