Another innovation from the Chrysler Corporation, based in Highland Park, Michigan, was the Plymouth Savoy. Numerous automobiles used the name Savoy. In the years 1951 to 1953, it was used for a station wagon pertaining to the Suburban model . As years went by, full-sized Plymouths were introduced.

The Plymouth Savoy was launched in 1954 as a middle level car. It was priced between the costs of a Beldevere and a Plymouth Plaza. However, Plymouth replaces the Plaza with the Savoy in 1959, presenting the Savoy as an entry-level vehicle. During the same year, the Plymouth Savoy was offered as a four-door sedan and a two-door coupe. Two years passed and it included a hard top coupe and the Custom Suburban station wagon into the line. The Plymouth Savoy was lowered to an entry-level position. With this, the harp top model was vanished together with the fancy interior trim and side trim in the primary line of Plymouth cars.

With a downgrade experience, the Plymouth stopped using the name Savoy at the last part of the 1964 car model year. Again, entry-level cars were introduced but the name was changed to a series of Fury I, II and III.
