This engine was given a power boost in 1989 to output 110 hp of power. Aside from the 2.4-liter units, Oldsmobile also introduced the 2.3-liter Quad-4 engine for the Calais in 1987. This engine produces a whooping 150 hp of power; powerful enough for a four cylinder engine during the time. The engine even became more powerful by 1990 as it was enhanced to output up to 180 hp of power and was used on the special edition Oldsmobile Calais Quad-442 model. A 3.3-liter V6 engine option also became available from 1990 to 1991 model year.
