The Japanese automaker produced the Nissan Pulsar for the Australian market to take the place of the Nissan Cherry or the Datsun 100A as what it is otherwise called. It is offered as a fastback coupe with two door and added wrap around back window, a hatchback sedan in three and five door versions, a fastback sedan in four door versions and station wagon and van in two and four-door versions. The first Nissan Pulsar was introduced in the market in 1978. Later in 1982, a new version is produced which was then designed by Alfa Romeo in Italy branded as the Arna, the combined name of Alfa Romeo Nissan Autoveicoli. The Italian made Nissan Pulsar was sold in the Japanese market as Nissan Pulsar Milano and in the European market as the Nissan Cherry Europe. In 1987, another version was produced. This time, it comes with more angular features as opposed to the smooth lines of its predecessor. It was named as the Pulsar N13 Series, packed up with several new features such as a four wheel drive version. Also offered are optional limited slip differential, black headlights, round Skyline style headlights and center grille. In other countries, the features of the Pulsar were combined with other models. In New Zealand for instance, the Pulsar was combined with the Sunny which opened the door for the Nissan Sentra. Several changes were done for the Nissan Pulsar in the following years. Pulsar models produced for 1997 was branded as the N15 offered in three, four and five door models. N15 versions made for the European market was equipped with the 1.4 L, 1.6 L and 2.0 L gasoline and 2.0 L diesel engines.
