The Nissan Frontier is a pick up truck model assembled by the Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Started out as a no name Nissan Truck in the past, finally Nissan proclaimed the redesigned model as Nissan Frontier. It was the first real reworking compact, seventh generation of Nissan's small pickups in the US market.
The Nissan Frontier is offered in three trim levels: there's the base or the regular-cab 2-wheel-drive only model, the XE, and the SE also known as the extended King Cab.
The Regular-cab model carries a 6.5-foot cargo bed, has a bench seat, and goes with a 5-speed manual which is optional with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The XE King Cabs on the other hand offers a 60/40 split folding front bench and side-facing rear jump seats, while bucket seats goes into the SE King Cab models.
Frontiers with automatic transmission got a column-mounted shifter, with a towing capacity of 3500 pounds. This part time 4 wheel drive systems allows shift-on-the-fly changes in and out of the 4WD's at up to 50 mph, though it is not intended for use on dry pavements, except on the upper models where hubs should be manually changed. Four wheel anti-lock brakes are also standard on 4x4's while on the 2-wheel drive models only got the rear-only ABS. Passenger side airbags can be deactivated for a rear-facing child seat.
The newest update on Nissan Frontier pickups today is larger and more powerful than that offered in both King Cabs and Crew Cabs body arrangement, it has more than a transitory resemblance to the latest introduced model which is the Nissan Titan which is a full-size pickup. The all new 2005 Nissan Frontier shows a modern, rugged styling and includes an innovative spray-in bedliner, Utili-track bed channel tie-down system fully boxed, and an all-steel frame which is also based on the Titan's platform.
This new Frontier is presented with a choice in transmission between an advanced 5-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual. An additional to this is the new advanced off-road traction system for the 4x4's with performance gas shocks, off-road performance tires, alloy wheels and for more, an overall off-road capability has been largely enhanced in practically every aspect. Having the towing capacity rated at more than 5,500 pounds, the Frontier is also offered with a considerable range of wheels and tires including 17-inch wheels and many more.
