The automobile industry is fickle. Unless you offer new car designs, car sales will continue to be elusive. Way back in 1945, MG broke the barrier by offering a two-seater car that is one of a kind, the MG TC. This car model is vital in bringing British sports car design to the United States. The MG TC also cemented the brand’s style, which is known for producing two-seat open sports car. This remarkable vehicle broke into consciousness during the postwar period and from then on everyone can’t get enough of this sports car.

The MG TC was first seen in 1945 and became the car of choice of car-hungry American ex-service men. It can be attributed to the car being a revamped model of pre-war MG TA and TB models. The car was designed with a classic style and a plain yet effective power system. The engine has a high compression ratio of 7.41:1 that allows 54.5 bhp at 5200 rpm. The powerful performance can be attributed to its 1250cc overhead valve engine. It has a wider cockpit, cut-away doors, and a fold flat windscreen. There is a separate tank for the wings and petrol. Its 19” wire wheels were considered to be basic.

The MG TC became the sports car of choice when it was brought to the United States, even though it was a right hand drive. The export version differs from the original version in terms of specification. The sealed beam headlights are slightly smaller, but the twin rear lights are larger. There was also a difference in the chrome-plated twin rear lights and the turn signals. It reached a colt following in the United States with over 10,000 units produced, a large number at that time.

Before the TC’s entrance into the US market, American motor racing was an obscure professional sport. The TC one handedly introduced the sport to the mainstream market. Until now, the impact that the car had in the entire nation is mind-boggling. It continues to be one of the popular sports cars in the US, with plenty of owners opting for expensive restoration of their precious TCs.
