The term “Merkur” means Mercury in German language. As expected, the Merkur brand of cars was manufactured by German manufacturers and were sold and serviced by the Ford Motor Corporation. Merkur is a brand of automobiles marketed by Ford in the US and Canada in the mid-1980s. Cars in the line-up were manufactured by German manufacturers and Ford marketed and sold it under its Mercury-Lincoln division. In its short history, the company only produced two models, the Merkur XR4Ti and the Merkur Scorpio, both of which have badge engineered Ford versions.
