Range Rover, Land Rover’s luxury sports utility vehicle, was first produced in the 1970 with steel ladder frame and aluminum body. It was equipped with constant four-wheel drive, all-coil suspension and disc brakes on all-wheels. Powering this vehicle is a 3.5 L aluminum V8 engine. The second generation Range Rover, also called the P38, came out in 1995 with an upgraded Rover V8, improved air suspension, stronger chassis and more luxury equipments and amenities. In 2002, a more sophisticated Range Rover SUV was launched, starting the third generation Land Rover Range Rover.
New generation Range Rovers carry a more powerful BMW M62 V8 gasoline and 6-cylinder diesel engines. These new Land Rover SUV models boast of improved ground clearance and cross-linked air springs. Highly durable but lightweight aluminum is used for its body, making it larger and more spacious than previous models. Parts such as the front fenders, engine block, cylinder heads, transmission case, wheels, hood, inner and outer door structure and door panels all use aluminum. It also features Bi-Xenon headlights that emit natural white light for wider illumination. The headlight has power washers and wipers and a light sensor control that automatically puts on and off sidelights and dipped headlights.
