Who would forget the vehicle brand that paid a lot contribution to the US military? At the start of the company production, the first vehicle was not intended for family use; neither was it a utility car. The first ever Jeep vehicle produced was an answer to the military needs. As agreed on the proposal between the Jeep Company or Bantam and the military, there was a proposed 4x4 hybrid weighing less than 1300 pounds. Eventually Bantam developed a Bantam Reconnaissance Car in response to the US military demand.
Behind its success to provide the first ever US military car was a big controversy on how the company got its name. If you have observed the company Jeep didn’t derive its name from the original designer and builder, the Bantam Car Company. Neither was it named after Willys, the famous manufacturer of the Willys MB, nor was it after Ford when it was making the GPW. The US Military didn’t even care to designate the name. The truth is nobody knows how the name “Jeep” came about. The common thread however is that all of the theories and speculations relate to general population adoption of the term.
Well, to much with the name. It’s more exciting and fun to know the epitomes of Jeep. Besides the prototype models such as the Bantam Pilot which was produced in 1940, there are other historical models made by the company. Following the birth of vehicles designed by Willys and Ford was the CJ series including the CJ2, CJ-2A, CJ3A and many more. Its special model was the Oscar-Mayer Wienermobile while the concept vehicles include the DJ-3A pickup, the XJ001, Jeep cowboy, Cherokee Targa, Jeep Targa, Jeep Ecco, Varsity, Journey, Rescue, Hurricane, Gladiator and many more.
The Jeep Dj6 is another vehicle under the historical models. This was built from 1965 to 1973 following the Dj5 that used hurricanes and dauntless engines. Though old, Dj6 still exhibits superb style and unique vehicle concept. Being so different from the modern vehicles that thrive in the world today, owning your Jeep Dj6 definitely brings you a feeling of pride and prestige. Mind you, only few got the same car these days. So keep it with you the right way.
