Upon introduction, Ford Sprint’s interior features bucket seats that are vinyl-upholstered; a central storage console; a dashboard that holds a 6000-rpm tachometer; and a steering wheel designed like that of a sports car. Ford had beefed up this compact to allow the extra power of the 260. Just like the Falcon that’s outfitted with V8, the Sprint came with rocker panel composed of heavy-gauge steel, underbody torque boxes and lengthened front side rails that all contributed to chassis rigidity. Ford Falcon sprints were sold in hardtops and convertibles in 1963 model year. And its production stopped in 1965 due mainly to the introduction of the sporty Ford Mustang.
After 43 years, the car was revived and it is called Futura Sprint. This model is available as a wagon that’s based on Ford’s all-wheel-drive Europe platform.
