This name is actually just an acronym which means Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino or Italian Car Factory or Turin when translated in English. The production run of the Fiat 131 lasted a decade from 1974 until 1984. As a large family car, it was made available as a 2 and 4-door saloon as well as a 5-door estate car. In 1982, the Fiat 131 had a Spanish version called the SEAT 131 that was produced and sold exclusively in Spain. The Spanish version was only made available as a 4-door body style. Some Turkish models were also developed using the Fiat 131 as their base model. Murat, Dogan and Kartal were the Turkish version produced.
