When introduced in 1982, the Dodge Rampage was equipped with 2.2 liter inline carbuerated 4-cylinder engine. It is a front wheel drive pickup truck equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. A year later, a 5-speed manual transmission unit was introduced, which was a welcome improvement for the truck.

With a carbuerated 4-cylinder engine, no one would expect too much power from the Dodge Rampage, which may be the reason why it didn’t sell well. However, during that time when oil prices were skyrocketing, the fuel efficient Dodge Rampage should have gained an advantage, considering that it was priced affordably as well. It was popular when it was first released but quickly fell out of its customers favor in the succeeding year. This led to the departure of the Dodge Rampage in 1984 and its twin model, the Plymouth Scamp, a year earlier.
