In 1914 the two brothers John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge established the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. Prior to that, they owned and operated a Bicycle and Machine Factory, but then they were approached by Henry Ford, asking financial backing for the auto company he was going to establish. So the Dodges’ consented resulting to their joint monetary advantage. But when 10194 came, the Dodges’ finally decided on going their own way and starting their own car company. From that year up to 1927 Dodge operated as in independent company and in 1928 they were bought out by Chrysler Corporation.
