The Dodge Raider is a compact SUV sold by Chrysler under the Dodge badge. It was sold in the US from 1986 to 1990. The car was actually built by Japanese manufacturer, and Chrysler partner, Mitsubishi Motor and its design is similar to the Mitsubishi Montero.

The Dodge Raider was sold by Chrysler for barely five years. In its five year history, the Dodge Raider didn’t get any major redesign or changes both in design and in equipments. Basically, the same Dodge Raider was marketed in the US from its introduction until it was dropped in 1990, although yearly upgrades in the engine is expected. The Dodge Raider was equipped with a 2.6 liter 4-cylinder engine and came available with either a four-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual unit. Both transmission units come with an overdrive gear.

For its price and its size, the Dodge Raider’s performance is good enough. It is even loved by many because it has the power of a regular SUV but not as hard to park because of its small size. The trade-off, however, is that it does not have an ample amount of room for many passengers or cargos, like many other SUV have. It is a good vehicle choice, however, considering its price and the reliability that Japanese built cars are known for.
