Dodge Custom
Dodge Custom is a car model name that has been used by the Dodge Company both in the United States and Canada around 1950’s. When Dodge released its first custom model vehicle which is the Custom Royal together with is subsidiary vehicle like Coronet and Royal models, it was a major departure for the company. Throughout its first phase, the Custom marque was characterized the exclusive or upper-level range of Dodge’s line of vehicles. The Custom Royal was the flagship model of Dodge Custom vehicle line up. All hardtop coupe and Custom Royal, which only convertible models were called Custom Royal Lancer and the Custom Royal sedan, got the Lancer marque soon after it’s released as well. The Dodge Custom line of vehicles featured unique chrome tailfins, special tail light surrounds, and an upscale interior. Backup lights were standard on the Custom line but optional on all others.
Another Dodge Custom was known to the market, was the Dodge Custom 880. It is sold under the Chrysler Corporation's Dodge brand from 1962 through the end of the 1965 model year. This Custom 880 was a stop-gap vehicle brought to market quickly to remedy Dodge’s vulnerability in the mid-price full-size field. The Custom 880 was a quick solution to consumer demand for a full-size Dodge passenger vehicle during the 1962 model year. The marque Custom 880 was taken from Dodge’s numerical sub-model naming structure that was also used on the Dart and sportier models of the Polara.
All Custom 880s featured the standard options found in the Polara and also now had foam-padded seats and stainless steel window frames on station wagons and sedans. Hardtops and convertibles featured all vinyl interiors. Custom 880 also featured a six window sedan body that was unavailable in the Polara series. Dodge stoped the Custom 880 marque at the end of the 1965 model year in the United States. Taking the Custom 880 place in the lineup was the Dodge Monaco, which was expanded to include all the body styles formerly in the 880 range.
It is given that all Dodge vehicles are actually great, including its Custom vehicles.
