The Daihatsu Charade is a subcompact car manufactured by Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. from 1977 to the present. The first Daihatsu Charade was called the G10, which was first introduced in 1977. It was followed by the G11, the second generation Daihatsu Charade, in 1983 and then by the third generation, called the G100, in 1987. The car has been quite successful internationally although it was not able to gain success in the US.

Although the car has been known to Japan, and later to the rest of the world, since 1977, it was exported to the US only in 1988, with then the third generation Daihatsu Charade. The car was originally equipped with a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder engine but more engine types were later introduced. Among the other engine types that were introduced later were a 1.0 liter turbo diesel engine, a 1.0 liter twin cam engine, and a 1.3 liter electronically fuel injected 4-cylinder engine. Poor sales have caused the company to drop not only the Charade but also all of its other models from the US market. The company withdrew permanently in the US in 1992.
