The Daewoo Lanos is a car considered by many as affordable but not worth the price. If you'll only consider the price, the car would really be affordable. But if you consider the qualities and performance of the Lanos, which only reaches averages in most aspects, a slightly higher priced subcompact car would prove to be better.

The Daewoo Lanos is the smallest of the three-passenger car introduced by Daewoo in the United States in 1999. It is a subcompact car that is available either as a 2-door hatchback or a 4-door sedan. The car is equipped with a 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 105 hp of power and coupled with a 5 speed manual transmission. A four speed automatic shift is also available as an option. Since it was introduced in 1999 until it was last marketed in the US in 2002, the car had not received any major changes from Daewoo.

As a critic has described the Daewoo Lanos, it is "crude, loud, and course." It rates poorly compared to its other Korean competitors manufactured by Hyundai and Kia especially in acceleration and quietness. The car is also less appealing compared to most foreign and local cars in the same category. Poor features plus a highly uncertain future in the American car market had largely placed the Daewoo Lanos in a great disadvantage.

If there's any consolation, though, for Daewoo Lanos owners, Lanos parts are easy to find. Since Daewoo haven't made any major adjustments and change in the car's design, parts for all Lanos year models are basically the same, and are therefore widely available. Your only worry then would be the quality of the Daewoo Lanos parts you're going to buy.
