The HHR was launched in 2005 during the Los Angeles Auto Show but as a 2006 model. HHR represents “Heritage High Roof” because of its retro-look station wagon with a notably high roof bearing the rich heritage of the 1949 GMC Suburban panel delivery truck. It was basically based upon the platform of the famous Chevrolet Cobalt sedan, and showcases the latter’s powerful engine, durable transmission, and reliable suspension. Moreover, the HHR was Chevrolet’s competing product alongside with the two-wheel drive Chrysler PT Cruiser, four-wheel drive Jeep Liberty, Ford Escape and Honda Element.
You can choose from the simple LS model, 1LT and 2LT trim options. The first trim sports a 2.2-liter, double overhead camshaft, four-cylinder, Ecotec engine that is capable of generating 143 horsepower, while the second trim features an optional 2.4-liter version of similar engine for higher horsepower at 172, and the third trim offers a standard of that powerplant. Enjoy also its five-speed manual transmission, and other safety and standard equipments. And to top it all, the Chevrolet HHR is quite a great catch. The performance is highly commendable compared to what its horsepower, torque and transmission statistics suggest.
