The Celebrity was a mid-sized car launched in 1982 by Chevrolet, a division of General Motors. This car experienced strong sales. In fact, it became the best-selling car in the United States in 1986. Celebrity shared its A-Body platform with the Pontiac 6000, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and Buick Century. The production of the Celebrity coupe ended on July 22, 1988 while the sedan was until August 25, 1989. And in 1990 model year, it was replaced by Chevrolet Lumina.
In 1984, a roomy five-door Celebrity station wagon was introduced and it was the only Chevrolet that remained till 1990 model year.
