Enhancements for 1992 model year included the addition of standard antilock brakes and additional 15 horsepower for the base 2.2-liter engine. In 1994, more powerful engines were introduced; a Z26 model with new Quad 4 engine replaced the GT/GTZ; and a new electronic 4-speed automatic transmission joined the 3-speed. Also, door-mounted front shoulder belts replaced the manual seatbelts.

For 1996 model year, Beretta's final season, the 2-door coupe version is offered in six models – the Beretta or base model, Z26, National SK, SL, SM, and SN Z26. The base model comes equipped with a 2.2-liter 120-horsepower 4-cylinder engine mated with 5-speed manual transmission while the Z26 is packed with 3.1-liter V6 that cranks out 155 horsepower and a 4-speed automatic transmission. To ensure safety and security, the '96 Chevrolet Beretta is outfitted with standard safety features such as anti-lock brake system (ABS), a driver airbag and automatic seat belts. Other features include standard air conditioning and dual power mirrors and optional removable sunroof and power windows with driver's express-down feature.
