The Cadillac Catera is a mid-size automobile that was produced in Russelheim Germany from an Opel design. Introduced as an entry-level Cadillac, it was sold in North America with softened suspension settings compared to the original Opel. Targeting younger customers that tend to favor European styling, Cadillac debuted for 1997 model year. It was developed by the engineers in both the U.S and Europe. Based on the Opel Omega, Catera was now Cadillac's only rear-wheel drive model and the only Cadillac without a V8 engine.
