Audi’s 100 sedan series were among the most successful cars of Audi. Beginning 1968, the Audi 100 has gone through a lot of modifications and upgrading. The first generation got a front-wheel drive, a medium-compression engine and lightweight and rigid body. Second generation Audi 100 came in 1976 in four door sedans, featuring a fresh new modern look and bigger headlights and rear lights. In the following year, Audi 100 got the first five-cylinder engine with fuel injection that generates 136 horsepower. Combining the strength and power of a six-cylinder and a four-cylinder’s economy, this engine was perfect for the vehicle.
When it comes to technology, Audi was a real trendsetter. Audi continuously innovates, advancing their standards for superior quality autos not only in terms of performance but as well as in design. For the third generation Audi 100, Audi creates impact in the industry once again by producing super lightweight cars with excellent aerodynamic features. In 1994, this midsize luxury sedan was replaced by the Audi A6. In the following year, a high performance version was offered and it was called the Audi S6. The new Audi S6 carried a 227 hp turbocharged engine under its hood and Quattro’s all wheel drive that makes it distinct from the rest of the luxury sedans. In 1998, the A6 was completely revamped, featuring a new look similar to the Audi A4 vehicles. The S6 model returned in 2002 as the new Audi S6 Avant. It was offered only in wagon version; however, it retained S4’s identity as a high performance car with its 4.2 L V8 engine that produces 340 horses.
