In 1926, Horch introduced the first German vehicle carrying an eight-cylinder and in 1964, the first car fitted with rotary-piston engine. The Audi Coupe came out in the American market in 1981 as an affordable alternative to the turbo Audi Quattro Coupe. It had the same body shape as the earlier model, only that it had fender flares. In order to make it more affordable to the market, it used only front wheel drive, smaller wheels and tires and 100 hp engine. As the years passed, the Audi Coupe had been redesigned and upgraded to give it a fresh new look and better performance. Unlike the Quattro that distributes power to all the four wheels, the front wheel drive transfers power to the ground through the front wheels. The power from the engine goes through the transaxle and is transmitted to the wheels. On rear wheel drives on the other hand, power passes through the transmission and the differential.
