The Alfa Romeo is an Italian car manufacturer that is responsible for the production of some of the automobile industry’s most admired and highly regarded vehicle models such as the 164, Milano, Spider, Alfetta, Duetto and others more. Originally named as the ALFA for Anomina Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, the Alfa Romeo was established in 1915. The company was known for producing cars that are race track breeds because of their ability to accelerate at soaring speeds coupled with outstanding handling performance. Since then, Alfa Romeo never ceased to come up with significant models, one after the other.
The executive saloon car and fastback coupe Alfetta was just but one of the pride of Alfa Romeo company. It was introduced in 1972 and was produced until 1984. Powerplant is the best feature for this automobile. In 1974, Alfa Romeo introduced the Alfetta GT, which was an Alfetta having GTV as its base. It is more of a fastback coupe version of the saloon. On the other hand, the name GTV was designated to showcase the Alfetta’s 2.0-liter top version. After, some minor changes were employed on the Alfetta GTV, the Alfetta GTV 2000L emerged.
In 1981, the GTV 2000L again had some restyling changes which became the base coupe model and was called the Alfa GTV 2.0. Same that year, the GTV being equipped with the SOHC V6 2.5-liter engine from the Alfa 6 luxury sedan, gave way for the emergence of the GTV6. It was later on discontinued. However, the name GTV was again heard in 1995 when the Alfa Romeo introduced it as a fresh automobile model after the Alfa Romeo GTV6 came to rest. The Alfa Romeo GTV is a 4-seater coupe, with a 2-seater convertible version called the Spider. It was formally launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1995.
Moreover, the GTV was based on the Fiat Tipo platform but a heavily modified version was used instead. It too had an all new multilink rear suspension and a much more rigid chassis as compared to the Spider’s. Available powerplants for the GTV ranges from 1.8-liter to 2.0 Twin Spark engines to V6 turbo and 3.0 V6 engines. In 1998, the GTV had additional chrome rim around the Alfa shield. The interior was also redesigned. Six-speed gearbox and additional engine options were offered. In 2003, another revamp was made for the GTV showcasing a change in grille, and more powerplant options.
