Through the time, different auto makers came to evolve one after the other. There are those who were successful enough to survive all the adversities and established their own name in the automobile industry, and there are those who were not able to last. One name that stood still against the tests of time as an automobile maker is the Alfa Romeo. Such company was founded way back 1907 by Cavaliere Ugo Stella. It was originally named as “Darracq Italiana” but when the partnership collapsed, it was renamed as ALFA for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili. When World War I commenced, ALFA car production was stopped.
Came 1916 at the height of the war, a Neopolitan entrepreneur named Nicola Romeo thought of turning the ALFA company into a military hardware. And when the war was finally over, Romeo completely took control of the ALFA Company and renamed it as Alfa Romeo by 1920 and resumed to car production. The Torpedo 20-30 HP was the first one to use the badge. And the rest, as they say, was history. However, in 1986, Alfa Romeo became part of European automobile manufacturer Fiat SpA. Since then, the Alfa Romeo brand was hardly ever heard outside Europe. One of the models that Alfa Romeo successfully came up with was the Alfa Romeo Giulia.
The Giulia was the first one to be equipped with a powerful engine although it was a light weighed automobile. In the conventional production, the Giulia only weighs around 2200 pounds but can boost a power of about 100 horsepower with its 1.6-liter engine. In addition, it has the ability to attain the top speed of 170 kilometers an hour, and the incredible speed of 63 miles an hour in just 12 seconds. Further, the Giulia’s styling was a bit simple yet exemplifies excellent quantity of details. It also features a square-shape engine bay, cabin and boot, with an integrated bumper to bumper design along the grill, rooflines, and bonnet details.
The Giulia, aside from saloon, was also available as the Giulia Sprint, Giulia Sprint GT, Giulia Sprint GT Veloce, and Giulia GTC.
