Available transmissions for the Berlina are the five-speed manual and three-speed automatic. Basically, the Berlina was an enlarged version of its predecessor Alfa Romeo Giulia. It is aptly considered as a restyled Giulia rather than a new concept model. Aside from the having a longer wheelbase of two inches, everything else has been identical from the mechanical components to the basic structure. Also, Berlina’s major components were exhibited by the modern Spider and GTV models.

The 7150 Berlina was first introduced at Vietri sul Mare in 1968. A year after, Berlina had minor changes as to the steering wheel, pedal box, dual circuit braking system, and iodine bulb headlamps. Such changes were presented at the Turin Motor Show. On the other hand, the 2000 Berlina was introduced at Gardone Riviera in 1971 along with the 2000 GT Veloce and Spider Veloce models. Siginificant change of which was the use of 3-speed automatic gearbox which was then presented in the same Turin Motor Show after several months.
