Originally named as the ALFA for Anomina Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, the Alfa Romeo is an Italian car manufacturer known for producing some of the legendary race cars. The Alfetta was produced from 1972 up to 1984, and is designed to exhibit the perfect combination of style and performance. Its popularity was proven when the company was able to sell more than 400, 000 units at the end of the model’s production period. Moreover, the Alfetta significantly featured a fresh drivetrain layout for the Alfa Romeo marque in addition to a rear-end positioned clutch and transmission together with the disparity for a more balanced weight distribution as compared with the Alfetta 158/159 Grand Prix cars. Its front suspension is dependent on double wishbones and torsion bars and its rear suspension was relied on a de Dion beam.

In 1979, the Alfetta had some changes particularly with a new front end design, wheel rims and lights. A Diesel version Alfetta was also introduced in the same year. Available powerplants for the Afetta are two four-cylinder DOHC engines, having a pair of valves in each cylinder. A turbo Diesel engine from VM Motori also became available. Finally, the Alfetta came to rest when a final major facelift was made in 1984. It was then renamed as the Alfa 90 to conform the new naming system.
