A cracked Geo windshield is more than just a minor inconvenience, it’s a driving hazard.  In fact, many states have outlawed driving with a cracked windshield.  Even a minor ping can result in a huge web or crack that travels from one end of your windshield to the other.  If you’ve decided to replace your own windshield, good for you!  You’ll be saving a fortune on labor fees.  However, installing a new windshield isn’t as easy as just ripping off the old one and slapping on the new.  You should know exactly what you’re doing before you begin.  All of the old sealant has to be removed completely.  Leave behind about 1/16th of an inch of bonding.  Use cleaning solutions and rags to scour off all of the old sealant.  Clean and prime the new windshield and vehicle pinch-weld.  Once everything has been dried, prevent contamination by wearing gloves.  Make sure you use an Urethane adhesive for the installation.
