One, single crack or nick in your Chrysler windshield can be the beginning of a nightmare. It may look completely harmless, but if the windshield is cracked, the strength of it is compromised greatly. One tiny crack can spread into a huge web pretty quickly. One little ping can run a huge crack right across the windshield if you wait to replace it. Not only is it extremely dangerous to drive with a cracked windshield, it’s also illegal in many states. Replacing your own windshield will save you money; but be prepared to do a little hard work for it. First, you must remove all of the old sealant from your vehicle. Use cleaning solvents and rags to scour the old sealant from the vehicle. Dry the surface thoroughly and leave about a 1/16th inch of bonding surface. Only use urethane adhesive on your new windshield. Many technicians use gloves to install the new windshield so that they avoid contaminating the glass.
