Replace a cracked or nicked Cadillac as soon as possible to avoid danger.  It is also unlawful in many states to drive with a cracked windshield.  Even if the crack in the windshield seems small and insignificant, the damage can gradually worsen by webbing out or extending a crack from the spot of the nick across the windshield.  A crack in the windshield compromises the sturdiness of it.  Driving at high speeds could cause the window to shatter or fall into the car.  This is where a bad situation can turn into a deadly one.  You can replace your own windshield, but you’ve got to make sure that you take your time.  Remove all of the old sealant before beginning.  Scour the surface vigorously and then dry it thoroughly.  Be sure to leave at least 1/16 inch of bonding surface.  Clean and prime the new windshield and vehicle pinch-weld.  Urethane is the only adhesive recommended for the job.
