Lincoln Window Switch |
Going to family outings, commuting to work or simply going for a late night cruise can be comfortable and exciting if you have a Lincoln that works perfectly well. Getting the right power and performance gives every driver the feeling of satisfaction. That is why regular check up and maintenance of all the parts is essential.
Every vehicle is equipped with windows. These windows are controlled by a switch. For your Lincoln vehicle, having a good Lincoln window switch is vital. Window switches differ with each other based on their design and working ability. There are three basic types of switches, the toggle switch, rocker switch and the lever switch. For most, the lever switch is the safest among the types of switches. It does not allow the window to get easily raised. The rocker switch, on the other hand, will move the window up as soon as you press the button. This switch is less safe for kids and is therefore less chosen. The toggle switch needs to be push forward and backward in order for it to operate.
Make sure when you buy window switches that you get one that is mounted vertically. They are considered much safer than other window switch designs. As much as possible don’t buy a window switch that requires to be mounted horizontally on the door’s armrest. Nevertheless, just like any other component of your Lincoln, the Lincoln window switch can also malfunction. For this reason, you need to clean the switch.
If there is a need to replace the switch make sure that you install the new switch correctly. You need to open up first the back of the switch with a very small screwdriver or putty knife. Then the switch opens up from the back and out. Further disassembly of the switch may not be necessary if the switch has been removed or if the door has been pulled apart before. Take note that when the car was built, all the wires were tied to the door panel under the armrest. This was to keep them from hitting on the door lock connections. You can disconnect the connectors from the switch itself if everything pulls out far enough. Then the other wires can be pulled out of the opening far enough to get at the connectors. You need to be very careful in moving any wires in the switch. And when the new switch is in place make sure that you assemble it back correctly.
