Many of today's vehicles include power windows, which are also known as electric windows. These windows are electrically-operated and can be raised and lowered by depressing a switch or button. Unlike the old models that used hand-turned crank handle, vehicles with power windows like Buick give more comfort and convenience to drivers since it can be operated by simply pressing the individual Buick window switch at each window.

The Buick window switch is an automobile switch that is used primarily in controlling the opening and closing mechanism of your Buick's power windows. Usually, there are four window switches in vehicles, and at the center of these is a contact on which power is distributed from the window-switch control panel on the door. Beside this power contact, there are also two contacts which are connected to the vehicle ground and to the motor. So, when the driver presses one of these four switches, one of the two contacts is disconnected from the ground and connected to the power contact, while the other contact remains grounded. This will then provide power to the window motor so that your window will be raised or lowered.

On some vehicles, the power windows work in a different manner. Instead of the power for the motor going through the switches directly, the window switches are connected to one of the electronic modules in the vehicle. Usually, there are 25 modules in an average car, on which one is on the driver's door and a central module known as the body controller. This module monitors all of the four switches so that when the driver presses any of these switches, the module closes a relay that will provide power to the window motor.

With this importance of the window switch in Buick vehicles, it is really necessary to regularly check this part and ensure that it is in good working condition at all times.
