The power windows are standard features for the comfort and convenience of all Range Rovers. The automatic feature of this power window makes it very convenient for us to open our windows. At a push of the button the window glass goes up or down unless there is an obstruction. This is because there is a neat linkage that makes it possible for the lifting of the window while keeping it at level. What happens is that the electric motor attached to the gears which when activated creates the gear reduction that is large enough to produce the torque needed for lifting.
There are several components that make up the power window assembly such as the power window regulator, the window switch and the small electric motor or the power window motor. The window regulator is the scissor-like mechanism that is located inside the door panel. It has cables and drive gears that work to help in the lifting process. There are several power window switches; each window has one, and a console for the drivers operation. The power window motor is attached to the worm gears.
The linkage used for the manual window is almost the same one use for the power window. In manual windows, it does not have a window motor and you have to crank the handle to move the window. In power windows, the power window motor is present and when it is activated turns the gear by its power and the window goes up and down. There is a 20-amp circuit breaker which feeds the power to the window-switch panel on the driver's door. This is then distributed to a contact that is located in the center of the four switches. When the switch is pressed, one of the two contact points gets disconnected from the ground and connects to the center power contact while the other remains grounded. This supplies the power to the window motor. The Range Rover features power windows with one-touch up/down feature and anti-trap function.
If the power window stops working, then you have to check all the parts of the power window system because they are interrelated. If one of the parts does not work, then the whole system will fail and you do not want that to happen. The window motor is located inside the door panel and it is vulnerable to moisture that might seep thru, dust and other harmful elements. This can cause the window motor to rust, corrode or get clogged or freeze up and fail. You can get superior quality Land Rover Range Rover Window Motor from Parts Train.
