Cars like everything else in his planet perish. The only difference would lie into how long their years in the automotive world would be. There are those cars which exist for a very long period of time, even establishing them as legends in their own fields, while there are those which exist for a very short period. One of those cars which existed for a very short period of time is the Sterling. The Sterling was manufactured by the Rover Company of UK to be marketed in the US. It existed for a short period of four years form 1987 to 1991. It was during these years that Rover was in collaboration with the Honda Company of Japan.
The only Sterling model that was sold was the 800 series. The 800 series was a repackaged Rover 800 series but only with different specifications created exclusively for the American market. During its first release, the saloon body-styled 825 saloon was being sold. It all changed in 1998, when the hatchback replaced the saloon and was called the 827. The Sterling was unpopular because of its alleged poor build quality and feeble performance and its manufacture was later discontinued in 1991. However, it remained popular in Europe, where it still remained in production until 1998 when it was replaced by the Rover 75. It is still seen on some US roads as they, unlike most orphan vehicles, remain maintainable for they are mechanically almost identical with the Acura Legend.
One of the most important parts of the Sterling is the Sterling wheel bearing. The Sterling wheel bearing performs two very significant functions in the vehicle's suspension. The Sterling wheel bearing enables the wheels to rotate with minimal friction, and it serves to support the weight of the Sterling. Perfect condition of the Sterling wheel bearing is necessary to do both functions. The seals of the Sterling wheel bearing must also be leak-free to keep the lubricants inside the bearing and the contaminants out. Although the Sterling wheel bearing is engineered to last 150,000 miles or more, the constant load takes a toll on the Sterling wheel bearing, the grease and the seals.
Indeed the Sterling wheel bearing is a very important part of the Sterling and as such should be properly taken care of and maintained. Regular check-ups and inspection should be done to prevent damage. If damage does occur, have them checked and repaired by a qualified mechanic who knows how to fix the problem.
However, if mere repairs will no longer suffice, it would be best to have a replacement part. Here at Parts Train you can get excellent Sterling wheel bearing that works just as efficient as the original one.
