Chrysler Valance

Every vehicle is comprised of numerous systems, parts and components. Each of them is tasked to perform unique functions which may be separate or interdependent from one another. The body for example, is the car’s shell designed to do several jobs such as the protection of the occupants from different road elements; in case of collisions, it provides solid mounts for all other systems; and it makes the cutting through the air easy and with least resistance. The car’s body is a relatively complex variety of large steel sections crafted into specific shapes and assembled into one - being the automobile’s shell. Also, the car’s body must be able to look good for attraction and style.

But since those large steel sections do not cover all the structural details of a vehicle, especially those at the bottom part, car enthusiasts use valances like the Chrysler valance to conceal or hide them. These valances are not just mere concealing component or panel of the structural details but they also provide extra protection for them. Valances are mounted either or both at the front bottom or rear bottom end of an automobile.

A front bottom valance can also be called as “front air dam”. It extends below the vehicle’s front bumper. Its ground clearance affects the amount of downforce that the vehicle creates, which means that the lower valance is, the more front downforce is created. A rear valance on the other hand is a separate panel that positioned just below the rear panel, and extends about from behind the rear bumper and downward to protect the car’s rear end from mud splashes. Such component is designed as a single-piece rear panel that integrates the rear valance. The whole area is sometimes referred to as the rear valance or rear panel.
