Do you own a BMW? If so, then you must really be proud about its very efficient suspension system. Similarly, you should also be proud about how smooth its transmission system is. But can this pride induce you to showcase these parts while you are driving your vehicle? Maybe not, and it's neither a good idea to do so. While the quality of those parts is indeed too good not to boast of, their appearance is not. And instead of showcasing them to the world, you would rather keep them hidden. To help you with this, there are BMW valances.

Valances are body panels that are basically used to conceal the structural details of a vehicle. Valances are especially needed for luxury vehicles like BMW, where the elegance of the vehicle may largely be affected by the sight of those ugly underpinnings. But aside from simply concealing those unsightly parts, most BMW valances available in the market today also features elegant designs, allowing them to further contribute to the overall appearance of the vehicle. This is probably the reason why valances are also considered as major styling accessories and are usually sold in kits together with side skirts and other ground-effects products.

There are generally two types of valances used in BMW vehicles: the front valance and the rear valance. The BMW front valance is often installed just below the front bumper of the vehicle. Most of these accessories would feature a small grille that compliments the style of the larger grille insert installed on the header panel. For racing applications, the front valance would also double as the air dam and its position relative to the ground (or its ground clearance) has a direct effect on the amount of front downforce created by the vehicle.

Just like the front valance, the rear valance is also installed just beneath the rear bumper of the vehicle. If bought as a part of a kit, the rear valance would often complement the style of the front valance, giving the vehicle a customized yet uniform appearance. But aside from making the rear end look more stylish, the rear valance also protect the vehicle's underpinnings from damages that may be brought by mud splashes.

So be proud about the transmission and suspension parts of your BMW for they are worthy to be proud of. However, avoid exposing them both to damages and to the eyes of onlookers by using high quality and elegant BMW front and rear valances, such as those that you can find here at Parts Train.
