Automobile mirrors are both functional and aesthetic in purpose. However, automobile mirrors tend to lend more towards functional purpose. Automobile mirrors are not mere vanities. Automobile mirrors are necessities that allow the driver to have a view of the rear without the need of turning his or her head around. Automobile mirrors allow the driver to concentrate on the road ahead while occasionally glancing on the mirrors to check any approaching vehicle. In this manner, the driver will be able to effectively evade any potential rear collisions with other vehicles. Automobile mirrors are also very useful when backing up to park or to simply maneuver the vehicle. Obstacles can be evaded by the driver using the automobile mirrors.
There are at least three basic types of automobile mirrors. The first type is the side mirrors, which always come in pairs. Side mirrors are external mirrors that extend a few inches from the body panels of the automobile. Side mirrors have joints that allow them to be adjusted. Most side mirrors are manually operated. However, there are cars that feature motorized side mirrors. One side mirror is installed for the driver’s side while another mirror is installed for the front passenger side. The second type of automobile mirror is the rear view mirror. The rear view mirror is an internal mirror installed just above the windshield and centrally located. It has also joints that allow it to be adjusted. The rear view mirror enables the driver to see the rear seats and the rear view through the rear windshield.
The third type of common automobile mirror is the backup mirror. This mirror is an external mirror that is commonly attached on the rear portion or tailgates of bigger vehicles such as sport utility vehicles or vans. The mirror faces the rear windshield or window of the vehicle, allowing the driver to see the lower portion of the rear part of the vehicle. This enables the driver to see any obstacles such as rocks, fire hydrants, or motorcycles that might be bumped or run over by the vehicle as it is backing up. However, there is another type of automobile mirror that is less common. It is the towing mirror. The towing mirror is not a standard automobile mirror but rather an accessory mirror that can be added for extra functionality.
As the name suggests, towing mirrors are used for towing trailers and loads. Towing mirrors are commonly used in pickup trucks that are used for towing trailers. Towing mirrors can be snapped on existing side mirrors. A towing mirror can be slid out to serve as extension of the existing mirror, allowing the driver to see the trailer more clearly. Hence, the driver can maneuver the vehicle much better without compromising the stability of the trailer. Here at Parts Train, we offer the best aftermarket towing mirrors.
