Auto mechanics usually consider the camshaft as the brain of the engine. It is because they keep all the pumping valvetrain components working altogether to allow easy entrance and exit of the air/fuel mixture to the cylinders. But still, there’s another component that looks far less remarkable yet does a lot in the operation of the crankshaft and the camshaft. And that’s the timing belt.

The timing belt is that significant link between the revolution of the crankshaft and the camshaft. It is a precision component that has teeth which perfectly fits its mating sprockets. The basic function of the timing belt is to keep up the crankshaft-to–camshaft synchronization to be sure that the operation of the valve is matched to the position of the piston. In other words, the timing belt “times” the closing and opening of the valves to ensure smooth engine operation. In some vehicles, the timing belts are hard to check than to replace. And for that reason, the timing belt needs to be protected. This is where the importance of Jeep timing belt cover comes in.

The vehicle’s timing belt cover is basically a lid that features three metal plates. It helps prevent wearing out of the belt and thus delays belt damage. Without a timing belt cover, the timing belt will easily get damage, leading to improper timing of the closing and opening of the valve. Much worse than this is that a damaged timing belt causes the valve to open at the compression stroke of the piston, which leads to an unwanted collision and valve damage. And problems like these often results to internal engine failure.

The timing belt cover itself can also lead to some form of timing belt damage. One example of this is the sloppy installation of timing belt cover. To prevent this from happening, it is always good to let a mechanic replace your timing belt cover. Should there be a need for Jeep timing belt cover, you can find the finest replacement at Parts Train. Here, you are sure that the Jeep timing belt cover you’ll purchase would last long.
