Honda Timing Belt

The engine system in Honda vehicles is composed of many different parts which include the camshaft and the crankshaft. Although these two subcomponents have different functions to perform, they are both critical to the engine’s overall operation and must be synchronized so that the engine will not lack compression, thus the ignition will fire on time. But how can these parts be kept in time with one another? It is simple. The vehicle should have this component called the Honda timing belt.

The Honda timing belt is a toothed rubber belt which is used to provide a quiet and flexible connection in between the crankshaft and the camshaft. The camshaft is the one responsible in making the intake and exhaust valves to open and close in time with the pistons’ up and down movement in the cylinders. The crankshaft, on the other hand, is the component that converts the up and down motion of the pistons into circular motions. But even if they have dissimilar functions, the timing belt should keep them in time with each other in order to have smooth engine operation. This should turn the camshaft at exactly half of the crankshaft’s speed while maintaining a specific alignment. This means that for every revolution of the camshaft, the crankshaft will have to make two revolutions.

So, because of this crucial function, the timing belt should be inspected regularly for any sign of breakage, looseness, and wear.
