There’s no doubt tat performance is one of the factors that affect the decision-making of car buyers. The first impression take by the buyer the first time he or she sits down behind the wheel for the test drive is a very big element that affects whether a purchase will be made or not. Car manufacturers are very much aware of this customers’ way of thinking that’s why even at the very beginning they make sure that the vehicle they produce will be able to meet and even exceed the performance expected by the customers. In order to bring about this kind of output, much focus is placed in the components that have direct effect on the vehicle’s drivability.

The suspension and steering systems are two of the car parts that have direct bearing on the vehicle’s road performance. By having efficient suspension and steering system you can e sure to have a comfortable drive all throughout. These two are interconnected so one will not be able to perform well without the other. As mentioned, these two are connected and the device that links them is called the tie rod. On vehicles having the conventional suspension system, the tie rod joins the center link to the steering knuckle and recirculating ball steering gears. For the ones equipped with MacPherson suspension and rack and pinion steering gears, the tie rod functions by joining the end of the rack to the steering knuckle.

The tie road is very important because it sends out force from the steering link or rack going to the steering knuckle. This force transmitted is needed in order for the wheel to turn. The tie road actually contains two portions – the outer and inner section. Both of these parts have each own role to play in making the whole tie rod function efficiently. As this part has a vital role to play in the vehicles overall performance, regular checking should be done on it. Furthermore, the strength of connection between the tie rod and steering knuckle must be consistent at all times.

If the tie rod already shows damage it has to be replaced immediately. Some of the signs indicating tie rod damage include anomalous front-end noise, hard steering or unstable steering and shows loose or excessive play. Replacing it is not that complicated and even an average-skilled car owner can do it. The most important tool for this activity is the puller or a special tie-rod-end puller or a two jaw unit.

Of course before proceeding to the actual replacement you need to have the item on hand. For high quality Saturn tie rod there’s no other place for you to be than Parts Train. Just check out our online catalog for the item that will exactly ft your Saturn ride.
