Honda cars are known for their excellent drivability and powerful engines. One ride at a Honda and you immediately notice how easier it is to cruise on tight corners. They have always put a great amount of dedication in providing quick car navigation and trouble-free handling. Thanks to an exceptional steering system, the vehicle runs without a hitch. But just like any car part, constant use can damage and tear some components such as the Honda tie rod. Driving with a broken tie rod can cause extreme tire wear and unmanageable wheel steering. The outcome is delayed front wheels response in terms of the steering wheel operation. The wheels do not easily turn to the left or to the right when you direct the steering wheel that way.

The Honda tie rod is a metal bar that forms the linkage of the center link and the steering knuckle. It is responsible for transferring the front axle motion to other components of the component system. It is placed on the opposite ends of the center link and attached by the tie rod ends. This is true for a conventional steering system. A conventional steering system has gearbox that is fitted with a worm gear. Movement is transferred from the worm gear to the part of the Pitman arm called sector gear. Across the Pitman arm is the concurrent moving idler arm. The movement creates a sideway progression of the center link which in turn is transmitted to the tie rod ends. Lastly, the force is carried to the steering arms and starts the rotation of the wheels.

The rack and pinion steering system is another type of steering system that uses tie rods. But unlike the conventional steering system, it does not use a worm gear, center link and idler arm. In place of them are the square-shaped pinion gear and a rack with teeth around its entire length. The tie rods are attached to both sides of the rack by means of the inner and outer tie rod ends.

Without your Honda tie rod, the whole steering system will not be able to manage the force and vibration caused by road bumps and impacts. Environmental factors can cause wear and tear of the tie rods. Don't compromise the stability of your Honda by getting low-grade tie rod replacements.
