If this starter is being installed on a 85-91½ Golf/Jetta 1.8L, the info in Application Notices B-105 and B-106 in the Bosch reman catalog MUST be followed to prevent damage to the starter drive and flywheel. . If vehicle has up-dated drive plate 053 105 323E, use starter 027 911 000X (SR 0782X). 053 105 323E drive plate is connected to the ring gear at three points (triangular center).
