Jeep Sound Deadner |
There are a lot of negative things that Jeep owners would normally accept as
something in exchange for the off-road capability of their vehicles. Ride discomforts
caused by the vehicle's suspension and the off-road track on where it runs, for
example, are given negative characteristics that Jeep owners are willing to take.
As much as possible, though, you wouldn't want other things to add more to this
discomfort. Road noise, engine noise, exhaust noise, wind noise and all other
sorts of noise that penetrates through the sheet metal body panels of your Jeep
are unwelcome discomforts that you would really want to avoid. So how can you
get away from these added discomforts? Use Jeep sound deadeners!
Sound deadeners, or sound deadening materials, refer to any vehicle accessory
used to suppress or block the sound that penetrates into the vehicle's interior.
Since noise would pierce easily through any of the vehicle's sheet metal body
panel parts, many people would cover almost all of these parts with deadeners,
from the floor pan, to the roof, to the side panels, inside the doors, in the
firewall and even behind the rear seats. There are even sound deadeners that can
be used on the underside of the hood or in a vehicle's trunk.
There are three basic types of sound deadening materials that may be used in
vehicles and each differs in the way they muffle external noise. The first type
is the sound damper. Sound dampers reduce the noise by adding load to the panels,
thus reducing the vibration of loose panels. By far, this type of sound deadening
material is the most commonly used in vehicles today.
Another type of sound deadening material used in vehicles is the sound absorbers.
These materials are generally thicker than sound dampers and muffles noise by
absorbing airborne sound waves. Then, a third type of sound deadening material
is the sound barriers. Just as its name implies, sound barriers form a barrier
or wall that blocks airborne noise from passing through. Like sound absorbers,
sound barriers are also often thick, usually made up of either an elastomer or
lead septum attached to a foam layer.
As to what kind of sound deadener you must install on your Jeep to block off
much of the noise coming from its engine, its exhaust, the road and the wind all
depends on you. Sound barriers would generally block off more noise than the other
two but they are also the most expensive and the thickest. Sound absorbers, on
the other hand, are the most popular because they are the thinnest. But whatever
type of Jeep sound deadener you prefer to install on your vehicle, you can be
assured that we have them for you here at Parts Train. |
