Thousands of auto owners install speakers for their car stereos or car disc players. For sure it would be troublesome to be listening to a sound system which keeps on rattling and does not at all sound good. Not only does the rattling sound come from the sound system but also from all loose parts in the car. Yes, anything that is loose will rattle such as the trunk, the door, the dash, the license plate, and the likes. However, with the use of the sound deadener, not only will there be reduced vibration but an eliminated highway and engine noise as well inside your car’s cabin.

The sound deadener aptly fits for a wide variety of applications such as for the firewalls, floors of trucks, buses, and cars, agricultural and off-highway equipment, metal office furniture, sinks, bath tubs, shower stalls, air conditioners, appliance cabinets, recreational cars, machine housing, motor and transformer housings, and other terminal units. The sound deadener’s main purpose is to damp, reduce, or eliminate that so-called “tinniness” type of noise that is basically caused by the vibration from the surfaces and panels.

You might be wondering where is the best place inside your car to place the sound deadener. Come to think of it, the best places which vibration often occurs are in the trunk lid, the door panels, and the side walls. Typical of a sound deadener is the design employed in it. Sound deadeners are made up of asphaltic mastic acoustical sheet material that is good at vibration damping. Thus, with the sound deadeners, the resonant vibration and noise as produced by the number of the vehicle’s sheet metal panels are hence reduced. Likewise, the loudness and the lengthy duration of noise produced when the metal panels struck each other are as well minimized.

What makes the reduction of noise, loudness, and vibration possible? Clearly, the adhesives which are rather pressure-sensitive make up an integral part of the sound deadener. Most sound deadeners these days are heat-resistant therefore making their lives longer and the performance much reliable. And because there are cases when gasoline is accidentally spilled into any metal panel of the vehicle, there is not the need to be worried because the sound deadeners are not damaged by this spillage.

First and foremost, clean the area where you wish to place the sound deadeners. Be sure that the metal panels are free from any sticky or gross elements which may hinder the right fit of the plasters. You can use isopropyl alcohol for cleaning. Cut the right size for the sound deadeners. Use a pair of scissors. It is best to use small cut sound deadener pieces for hard-to-reach areas. Cover the surface with the sound deadener as you make use of a wallpaper roller to ensure that the whole material is indeed flat to the area and without anything sticking out. Though the sound deadener is really soundproof, it is highly recommended to apply a second layer over the first one. And finally, gently hit with a soft hammer all those uneven sides to ensure that the whole mat of sound deadener is aptly fitted and will by all means keep the area away from the production of vibration and noise.
